“Homegrown talent, The Great Fuss, brought with them their high energy.  In my opinion, they stole the show. They kept the audience engaged with a dynamic and upbeat set.  The enjoyment the members had for performing together was more than evident and that enthusiasm shone through their music...” –Tara McDermott, NSMZ

“...The room was packed, and the energy was electric. The Great Fuss took the stage to warm up the crowd. This band is a great Saskatoon secret that I wish more people knew about. Energetic and fun with catchy songs ranging from sixties swagger to psychedelic slink, all centering around the voice and personality of Pete Oldridge…” Melanie Macpherson, NSMZ

“...The Great Fuss delight in keeping you wondering if they’re inspired by Andy Warhol, The Beatles or Joe Strummer. Or if they’re simply themselves in a great tidal wave of love and lyric. In their own words, the band is a finely tuned cross breed of British and North American elements; imagine what it would sound like if The Kinks had a baby with Spoon…” –Darryl Serdan, Tinnitist

The Great Fuss

With an homage to the pulsing piano melodies and indelible electric guitar riffs of classic pop-rock, The Great Fuss capture a generational collision of old-school Brit pop vibes with contemporary indie rock influences. A whirlwind of kaleidoscopic rhythms, lyrics and riffs, earworm their way into your consciousness.

A long standing act in Saskatoon’s music scene, The Great Fuss, have steadily built a reputation for their emotive and energetic performances. Their visibly joyful approach to music have made them a desirable opening act for many internationally-acclaimed acts in 2024, including Steven Page (The Barenaked Ladies), Chris Murphy (Sloan), Five Alarm Funk and Wide Mouth Mason while performing many summer festivals including Ness Creek Music Festival, Lakeside Music Festival, Haywire Music Festival and Doylefest.

The Great Fuss entered into the music scene in 2015. Drawing musical inspiration from artists like The Beatles, Spoon and The Kinks, the band released its first full-length album The Great Fuss in 2018, which received the "Top Album" designation from Divide and Conquer Music. The album was also included in SaskMusic's top albums list and “Terror in the Land”, “Set Yourself Right” and “Double Rainbros” were included as top and semi-finalists in the Canadian Songwriting Competition. “Chains” also made the top ten in Searchlight’s Provincial rankings. The EP Root Thyself! (2019) and full length album Late Quakes (2022) followed.

Their latest single release “It Isn’t Criminal” (2024) blends thoughtful lyrics with captivating rhythms, enhanced by the expert touch of Jim Eno’s (Spoon) mixing prowess. ”It’s an incredible honor to have Jim Eno mix our latest track,” says Pete Oldridge, frontman of The Great Fuss. “For me, these collaborations are a significant validation of all the hard work put into the music.” And therein lies the magic of The Great Fuss; whether they're at a club, music festival, or an acoustic encore (when the sound tech had to leave, but the crowd needed more), they create a micro-universe which resonates in the hearts and ears of every listener.
